If you want encryption of network traffic between computer you need to pay for the more expensive license. Synergy is now a paid product (perpetual license for current major version.pay to upgrade to next major version). I just wanted trouble-free keyboard/mouse sharing over the network. Recently I ended up with multiple Macs at my desk, each with their own monitors. Much faster than using a hardware KVM (which I also had). I used Synergy years ago when it was free/opensource to use one keyboard and mouse between a windows and linux machine (each had their own monitor). The major alternatives are Synergy and ShareMouse. This app allows you to share a keyboard, mouse and clipboard/pasteboard between two computers simply by having the computers connected the same network (keyboard/mouse/clipboard data is sent between computers across the network).
